Sirloin, ribeye or fillet: which cut should you choose?

Sirloin, also called striploin here, offers a firmer bite; ribeye is a rich choice for marbling; fillet, or tenderloin, is prized for tenderness. In Portuguese, you may see these described as vazia, entrecôte and lombo.

Japanese A5 Wagyu suits smaller tasting portions. Choose the cut around your menu and guests, rather than assuming every A5 product has the same texture or flavour.

Understanding A5, Kobe and Japanese origin

In Japanese grading, A describes carcass yield and 5 is the highest meat-quality grade. Quality assessment covers marbling, meat colour, texture and fat quality; A5 is not a single marbling score.

Miyazaki identifies a Japanese origin. Kobe is a specific designation within Japanese Wagyu: Miyazaki A5 is not automatically Kobe beef.

For traceability, ask us for the Japanese cattle identification number associated with the available lot before buying. The ten-digit number can be checked in the official Japanese NLBC database. That record provides information about the animal; it does not by itself establish A5 grade or Kobe status.

Buying Wagyu in Portugal: frequently asked questions

How much does 1 kg of Japanese A5 Wagyu cost?

The current Miyazaki offers above are €198.75 for sirloin, €202.50 for ribeye and €232.50 for fillet. Kobe ribeye is €810.00 for 1 kg. Check each product page for updates.

Are these prices for 1 kg?

Yes. All four listed prices refer to the 1 kg variant. Suggested tasting portions are serving ideas, not additional pack sizes.

Can I order for delivery to Madeira or the Azores?

Contact us before placing an island order. We need to confirm delivery coverage, transit time and applicable shipping conditions for your address.

Does 24–48 hours mean from the time I order?

No. The usual EU transit estimate starts after dispatch. Dispatch days and the destination route affect the overall time; check your delivery details before planning a meal.

Is the beef shipped fresh or frozen?

The beef is shipped frozen in insulated packaging with dry ice and cold packs. Follow the product label and shipping instructions when it arrives.

Can restaurants order Japanese Wagyu?

Yes. Contact our team with your preferred cuts, quantities and delivery address to discuss availability and professional supply.
